Gil Scrine is a documentary filmmaker, writer and distributor. Through Antidote Films Gil distributes a wide range of documentaries and arthouse features, introducing new work to audiences in cinema, DVD and since early 2012, on VoD. His new company, beamafilm, is an online movie platform focusing on documentaries. Gil’s role as director of acquisitions brings together his wide experience in their production and distribution.

In 2007 Gil founded

Cinema Ventures

to explore not-for-profit distribution and the links between the issues at the heart of most documentaries, untapped audiences already formed around those issues, and the philanthropic community. This led to pioneering work with a new distribution philosophy called “Community Targeted Distribution” which demonstrates the potential of the cinema box office as an agent for social change.

Gil’s leadership as a community activist and writer on political & social issues, locally and globally also informs his work as a teacher (filmmaking and distribution) and organizer of forums on filmmaking issues and practice.
